Wet ground since 1902

On the 1902 fire-insurance map of Everett, every yellow block is a wood-frame house. Many of the city’s older homes still stand on short foundations over bare soil, between Port Gardner Bay and the Snohomish River delta.

When the ground stays damp from October to April, that moisture rises into insulation, joists and the air upstairs. Most of the work on this page starts there.
